Children and families at Barnet Hospital were given a festive surprise yesterday when three Tottenham Hotspur players delivered Christmas gifts to Galaxy ward.
Richarlison, Emerson Royal and Oliver Skipp chatted to patients and staff, took photos and signed autographs when they visited on Tuesday afternoon.
Among those who received a gift was 11-year-old Qamarzada Zahirgan., who despite being a Manchester City fan said he was pleased to meet the players.
He said: “I wasn’t expecting it, it was a great moment. Spurs and City had a great game the other day, we drew 3-3, so it was good to speak to them. Lots of my friends are Tottenham fans so they will all be jealous.”
Shauna Clyne, mum of six-month-old Ambrose, said meeting the players made her day.
“My family are all Tottenham fans and they will all be amazed that I met the players,” she said. “Some of them have season tickets – so I’m looking forward to showing them the photos.”
Mansour Hunar, 10, was delighted the players signed his shirt. He said: "I love football and would love to be a footballer when I grew up. I liked meeting the players even though I support City."
Christine Vant mum of four-and-a-half month old Jax added that was a nice surprise to meet the players after spending many days on the ward.
“The days can be very long so something like this breaks it up,” she said. “Hopefully we will be going home very soon though.”
