Royal Free Hospital front entranceHealthy volunteers are being sought to take part in a research study to help discover how kidney disease affects a patient’s immune system.

Volunteers need to be:

  • aged 60 years or more
  • not on immunosuppression
  • no autoimmune disorders (for example lupus, vasculitis, rheumatoid arthritis), chronic viral infection or cancer in the last five years
  • in good health
  • with no current infections

Researchers are looking for ‘healthy controls’ to compare with kidney patients in order to understand more about their immune responses to infections and vaccinations. They are keen to hear from anyone who fits the criteria.

Bloods and a urine sample will be taken and volunteers will be asked a number of questions. There will only be a requirement for one visit which will take place at outpatients at the Royal Free Hospital.

If you are interested in taking part in this study please contact Professor Alan Salama at a.salama@ucl.ac.uk or Dr Heidy Hendra h.hendra@ucl.ac.uk.
