A team of dementia advisors will be offering Barnet residents expert help and advice when a community roadshow bus comes to Barnet Hospital on Thursday 18 February.

Representatives from the Alzheimer’s Society will be at the main entrance of the hospital from 10am to 3pm talking to visitors about dementia, which affects more than 4,000 people in the borough of Barnet.

Douglas Russell, operations manager for Alzheimer's Society in north west London, said: “Being diagnosed with dementia can be a daunting and overwhelming experience and it can also be a difficult time for carers. I would encourage anyone who is looking for more information about dementia to stop by the community roadshow bus and speak to our advisers.

“With the right support people can live well with the condition.”

Danielle Wilde, dementia lead at the Royal Free London, said: “The Royal Free London is committed to supporting people living with dementia and their carers. Part of that is making sure they have access to the right information and know about all the support that is available from organisations like the Alzheimer’s Society, hospitals and other health and social care providers.

“This community roadshow is a fantastic way of bringing this information to the public, and I’m very glad we are hosting it at Barnet Hospital.”
