Our February issue of the Pears Building newsletter includes the news that Camden Council have given the go-ahead to the work, which means construction can begin shortly.

The latest newsletter not only brings you up to date with the building’s construction but also the world class research work of the UCL Institute of Immunity and Transplantation (IIT) which will occupy it.

In this issue we find out about the life-changing research delivered by Dr Deralynn Hughes (pictured above) and her team at the Lysosmal Storage Disorders Unit. Dr Hughes’ ground-breaking work means that patients with Fabry disease – an enzyme deficiency – are now able to take a tablet for their condition, instead of having to visit hospital every two weeks for intravenous infusions. The newsletter includes an interview with Tony Haymes, a patient with Fabry disease.
