“International Nurses Day is a day to celebrate and recognise our incredible nurses and midwives across the Royal Free London. I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. You should all feel incredibly proud, over the last year you have gone above and beyond and have been invaluable to our response to the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring kind and compassionate care.”
Across the trust nurses and midwives at Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital have a number of activities planned to mark the occasion.
Help us celebrate International Nurses Day by sharing your comments to our nurses and midwives on our social media channels @RoyalFreeNHS.

Hello my name is Julie Hamilton and I’m the chief nurse at the Royal Free London.
Today is International Nurses Day and last week we celebrated International Day of the Midwife.
I just want to say a huge thank you to each and every single one of our amazing nurses and midwives at the Royal Free London. Everyone over the past year has gone above and beyond to make sure that our patients feel safe but also to ensure they are treated with kindness and compassion.
A huge thank you to you all and I’m very very proud of you.
Message from joint regional chief nurses for London:
Hello, I’m Jane Clegg, joint regional chief nurse for London.
And I’m Martin Machray, the other half of that duo.
We’re here today to talk to you at the Royal Free London, to both nurses and midwives on International Nurses Day and remembering last week was International Day of the Midwife.
We’re here to say thank you for two things. Thank you for everything you have done over the past year, it has been phenomenal.
But also just to encourage you to think to the future – what you’ve learnt from this year. What your plans are both personal and professional and to wish you all the best in your future careers. Thank you.
