Last night the concluding episode of Hospital was broadcast on BBC Two, showcasing the very best of the Royal Free London and the NHS.
Filmed over three weeks from the start of the lockdown on 24 March, the two-part documentary captured patient stories, the achievements of staff, and the challenges faced by the trust as the COVID-19 pandemic hit its peak.
Reviews for Hospital Special: Fighting Covid-19 have been unanimously positive, including 5 star ratings and praise for the ‘inspiring dedication of medics’ and ‘the determination of staff never to give up’.
And on social media viewers said the programme was ‘extraordinary’ and ‘unmissable’.
Chief communications officer Emma Kearney said: “We’re delighted with the two episodes of Hospital. Thank you to Label1 who so brilliantly captured the ups and downs of the past few weeks as staff tackle one of the biggest challenges ever faced by the NHS.
“These episodes will serve as a testament to the way the NHS has seamlessly adapted to a new way of working and the resilience shown by colleagues across the healthcare sector.
“I’m so proud that the Royal Free London was a part of these two special episodes, but every NHS worker should also be proud – this is a glimpse of what healthcare colleagues across the country have been dealing with.”
