The Imagine Healthy London Roadshow visited the Royal Free Hospital on Wednesday 30 July.
The roadshow, which has been organised by the London Health Commission, has been travelling the capital over the summer to gather views from hospital staff and patients about how health and healthcare can be improved in London.
During the roadshow’s visit a stand was placed in the hospital’s canteen. Staff and patients were encouraged to give their views about London health in a questionnaire and over 50 people took part. The responses given in the questionnaire will be included in a report due this autumn.
In 2013, Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, established the commission which is chaired by Professor the Lord Darzi. The commission was created to find out what Londoners really believe about their health and to give them a chance to suggest improvements they think can be made.
Since June, the roadshow has been visiting hospital and healthcare providers across London including Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Greenwich, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Imperial College Healthcare.
The commission’s findings will then result in a set of recommendations which will be put forward to the Mayor of London in the autumn.
A statement on the commission’s website explains: “The unique opportunity of the London Health Commission is the way in which it brings together the Mayor of London with the NHS, local government and the wider public to address the challenges that London faces.”
