Newborn stars shine at Barnet Hospital

Parents and babies at Barnet Hospital have taken part in a new video made by the neonatal charity Bliss, highlighting its important work.

The camera crew made sure not to interrupt the daily rhythm of the Starlight unit at Barnet Hospital but succeeded in capturing some wonderfully intimate moments between babies and their parents.

Bliss does important work to give babies born premature or sick in the UK the best chance of survival and quality of life. They fund neonatal research, provide information and emotional support for families, campaign on neonatal issues and champion parental involvement in care. 

Gemma Collins-Ellis who led the filming from Bliss, said: “It was an absolute privilege to spend time on the unit and observe the incredible connection between parents and their babies. During our time at the hospital we saw just how closely the staff on the unit work with parents to support their knowledge and confidence in their ability to care for their child.”

Emily Hills, neonatal occupational therapist at Barnet Hospital, said: “It was brilliant to have Bliss with us and to be able to showcase the care and support that families receive at what is obviously a really challenging time in their lives. We hope this film will reach a wide audience and increase understanding of Bliss’ work and neonatal units across the country.”
