Like many buildings constructed between the 1970s and 1980s, the Royal Free Hospital has some areas of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) and we have been implementing a detailed replacement programme to safely manage, monitor, and replace it where required.

The RAAC is located in non-load bearing areas (internal partition walling) which has been independently inspected and judged to be safe.

We would like to reassure our patients that the hospital is safe and they should continue to attend planned appointments as usual.
