From Saturday 7 February until the end of March pedestrians will not be able to use the staircase on Pond Street to access the lower ground floor A&E entrance at the Royal Free Hospital.
We would advise our patients and visitors to please continue along the pavement past the staircase and enter via the ambulance entrance. Clear diversion signage will be placed around the area.
These works are part of the £25 million redevelopment of the emergency department at the Royal Free Hospital that began in December 2014.
The redevelopment will include a new 23-hour assessment unit as well as a rapid assessment and treatment area, a larger resuscitation area and a diagnostic hub, which includes x-ray and CT scanning services. The plans also include the redevelopment of the urgent care centre and the provision of a dedicated paediatric emergency department.
