The way our lifts work at the Royal Free Hospital is changing. From next week, Tuesday 31 August, our new destination controls will go live, which will improve the experience for our patients, visitors and staff. Once the new controls have been installed, the lifts will work a little differently and the way you call a lift will change to the following: 

  1. Use the touch screen in the lift lobby to select your floor, you will then be directed to a lift

  2. Go to your designated lift – look for the letter you need on the illuminated cubes above the doors

  3. Wait for your lift to arrive

You must select your floor before getting inside a lift - there are no options to select a floor once inside. 

There will be a period of transition over a few days where some lifts will be operating on old controls, alongside the new ones. As the controls are introduced there will be designated people around to help.
